Jubili now offers Metal Smithing!

Our state-of-the-art flame work & glass fusing studio is a fabulous Metal Smithing studio as well!  Completely equipped with everything you need to learn the art and craft of designing and making hand-forged metal jewelry, (ie out of silver, gold, copper, brass), we are excited to announce our newest staff member and metal smith jewelry artist/instructor, Alison Lusardi.  A new graduate of Rowan University, Alison has been putting together a wonderful series of progressive skill classes , including basic jewelry design, soldering, enameling, and more!  Provided for your use in class, we stock such supplies as Dremels, a Flex Shaft, files, hammers, patina solutions, bench pins, a vise, anvils, and many other essentials. We also have a varied inventory of supplies and books for your purchase, in the PMC and Metal Smithing display area of the store.

Starting with Saw Piercing, the skills you will learn will progress to Hammering and Textures, Cold Connections, and more intricate techniques in metal smithing, including metal annealing.  You'll learn to use all the basic tools of the trade, how to plan your projects, and what finishing touches will make your piece look like it was made by a professional!

Alison has a passion for creating tangible objects and working with many materials, metal in particular. She is a recent graduate of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, achieving a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Studio Arts, with concentrations in Metal smithing and Ceramics. Alisons's impressive creative talents and skills, along with her friendly, low-key personality will make her classes both fun and informative!

Alison's favorite techniques include piercing, soldering, riveting, enamels and electro-forming. She is very excited to be bringing jewelry/metals classes back to Jubili!! We look forward to Alison developing more and more projects and classes in her areas of expertise, for your metal smithing and mixed media creative enjoyment!
