Besides formal classes, we also offer rental of the studio for "Open Studio", so that you can practice what you've learned and improve your bead-making skills. Open Studio sessions may be pre-scheduled and listed in our bi-monthly class schedule, or may be scheduled by any three people who would like to use the studio for a specific date and time. Sign on to our Yahoo! Group to meet other Jubili flame workers!
Glass Studio rental cost is $15 per hour per person, with a minimum rental time of 3 hours, for at least 3 people. Glass is extra, and there is an additional $40 shared kiln fee. Safety glasses, tools, and other accessories are provided, or may be purchased, (ie mandrels, bead release, etc.).
Most experienced flame workers recommend a newcomer have at least 8 hours on a torch before attending open studio on your own. To enable newcomers to do this after your first 4 hour class, we are pleased to offer a "Chaperoned Open Studio". Chris Coffman, one of our teachers and the outgoing president of our local ISGB chapter, will attend as the "chaperone", so that you may put in your additional 4 hours with someone who can reinforce safety rules and good basic technique. Following this, if you have achieved a good level of comfort working with the flame and respect the safety and clean-up rules, you may participate in non-chaperoned Open Studio sessions.
